Tickets on sale Monday, July 22!
The nineteen talented and enthusiastic Year 5 & 6 students representing WPS in this year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular, have just one more regional Hub rehearsal on Friday, August 9, before they showcase their dynamic dance moves at John Cain Arena later this term. This year’s show will be particularly special with our current dance team being joined at the arena by past WPS Spec dance members who are now featured principal vocalists - Zack Poole (Year 5), Izayah Khazour (‘Aladdin’ 2022) and Cameron Poole (‘Beauty and the Beast’ 2019).
If you would like to support the students and experience Melbourne's biggest live song, dance and lighting phenomenon – featuring circus artists, acrobats, puppeteers, skaters, musicians, singers, haka and hip-hop dancers and a kaleidoscope of colours - tickets to both the 1pm and 6.30pm shows on Saturday, September 14 go on sale Monday, July 22 at 10am through Ticketek.

Costumes, sets and props update
This term, all grades will be participating in song and dance rehearsals for our whole school production of “The Little Mermaid Jr”. Working together to learn class items and developing interesting characters through scene acting, is always a rewarding and exciting experience for the students – especially when they finally get to try on their costumes and perform with fun props and sets!
While we will be hiring professionally made costumes again this year (so there will be no sewing requests made of our WPS community), I do need families to kindly let me know asap if their child/ren will not be participating in the August 29 performance at George Wood Performing Arts Centre, so I can confirm student/cast numbers with the costume hire company.
It would be great to have a team of parent helpers who can assist with fitting students and labelling their costumes at school prior to the whole school run-through (Tuesday, August 27) and dress rehearsal at the theatre (Friday, August 29). Please let me, or your classroom teacher, know if you are available to assist at the grades’ fitting day on Friday, August 23.
Many thanks to Lee Gratton and one of our Performing Arts Leaders, Archie, for building a fabulous mobile set platform for use in this show and future productions. The Prep students were very excited to try out the new platform today! Help from other members of our community in creating and sourcing a few set items and props would also be warmly welcomed. Please contact me if you can help or if you want more information kirstywolters@eduction.vic.gov.au. Think of the smiles your creations will bring to the appreciative faces of our young performers!
All families are kindly reminded to regularly check Compass messages for upcoming information about ticket sales, additional costume items and out-of-hours rehearsals (Year 6 cast, only).
