Principal  Message

Hello,

It is the middle of term 3 already! It seems we are so busy the time is going faster than ever. The production rehearsals have ramped up a notch as we countdown to the performance next week. Tickets have gone on sale and over 600 have been sold so if you haven't yet booked, jump online. The costumes and sets are being finalised today, which is really a team effort as parents, teachers and students help Kirsty to assist with the organisation of costumes and fittings.

For our prep families that have not seen a WPS production before, I can tell you that the build-up of excitement the students and families have is due to the anticipation of watching their child/ren participate in something that is of such a high standard whilst also being thoroughly enjoyable. The energy and quality of the performances seem to improve each year. Each year the prep students are one of the highlights of the show and we all look forward to seeing them in their debut performance. It is very common for some of our students, young and older, to feel nervous about performing. Building this resilience is one of the key objectives of performing arts. To be able to perform and push through the anxiety creates a real sense of achievement and boosts confidence. Having said all that, if you feel your child is struggling with the anticipation of performing, please see your classroom teacher so we can work with you and your child to support them for the final rehearsals and on the evening. We have all staff backstage on the night so there are plenty of people who can be a support for our students on the evening.

Father's Day Stall - Next Wednesday, 28th August

We will be running our Father's Day Stall for children to come and purchase a gift for their father (or grandfather) for Father's Day. Please ensure if your child is purchasing something that they have their money secured in a zip pocket or in a wallet. It is also a good idea to back a reusable bag for them to put their gifts in to take home safely. If a child has forgotten their money, we will run an IOU system which allows them to pay at the office the following day to collect their selection.

Father's Day Breakfast! - Tuesday 3rd September

FOWPS are putting on our annual Father's Day Breakfast on Tuesday 3rd September. Look out for details to purchase your breakfast ahead of time. We will run a Kahoot quiz, which has become a regular feature of this event.

Hats are back!

From Monday all our students to need to wear a wide brim hat or legionnaires hat when outdoors at school. As the UV index begins to rise in August, we are implementing hats and students will need to wear them outdoors until April next year. Whilst there is a 2-day grace as students remember to pack the hat, I am conscience that our Athletics Day is this coming Tuesday. Please ensure your child has packed their hat for this day as it's a long time to be outdoors without one.

Footy Day Lunch Order  (Friday, 13th September)

To help celebrate Footy Day (Friday, 13th September) we have asked Jaycee's Catering to provide a special Footy Day menu! There are a few important things you need to know:

  1. You need to order through the SCHOOL SHOP SECTION, this is selected on the first screen on Munch montitor (not the normal canteen section)
  2. Orders must be finalised asap as they will have to cut them off at 9am on Wednesday, 11th of September. Unfortunately, after this time we will not be able to accept any further orders, as this only just gives them enough time to order in any stock and prepare for the day. So, jump online now to put your order in.
