Principal's Report
Dear Families and Friends,
As we draw closer to the end of Term 2, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements and positive energy flowing through our school community. There is so much to be proud of!
Firstly, a huge congratulations to our students for their amazing report cards this semester. It has been so rewarding to see the growth in English, especially in the way students are learning to identify their sounds and use their blending and segmenting skills to read. Our whole-school focus on phonics is clearly paying off – and it is not just about results on paper. It is about confidence, persistence, and that spark we see in their eyes when they crack a word or finish a sentence. A big thank you to our staff who have worked so hard to support every student in making progress.
Today we are looking forward to one of the biggest days on the calendar – Sports Day! This is always a joyful celebration of fun, teamwork and participation. We encourage all students to wear their house colours and come ready to cheer each other on. Whether it is running, throwing, or just having a go, it is a day that truly shows our CARE, COURAGE and COOPERATION in action.
This term we have also taken big steps forward in building teacher and education assistant capability through our involvement in the CLC Instructional Leadership program. Our focus is on peer observation and learning from one another – whether you are a teacher or an EA. This has helped us look closely at our practices and work towards low variability across the school. Why does that matter? Because when classroom routines and expectations are consistent, all students can thrive. Everyone knows what to expect, and that creates a safer, more engaging place to learn.
Another area where we are seeing real impact is through our Student Support Team. Each week, this team of specialists and staff working directly with students meet to problem-solve, share strategies, and ensure that support is tailored to student needs. Because of this work – and the stronger classroom engagement we are seeing – the number of students showing challenging behaviours has significantly decreased.
And it has not gone unnoticed! Visitors to our school often comment on the calm, settled atmosphere that greets them as they walk through the gates. That calmness is not by chance – it is the result of purposeful work to improve student engagement, consistent practices across classrooms, and a shared commitment from our staff to create a learning environment where all students can succeed.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Whether you are cheering at sports day, encouraging your child with their reading, or simply having a chat at the gate, your partnership is a big part of what makes this school such a special place.
I appreciate each and every member of our school community 😊
Warm Regards,
Dehlia
