Updates from Miss Maree

Dear Families,

What a busy start to the term it has been! Apologies for the lack of newsletter the last fortnight - although no-one came racing up to me saying they didn't get it. Maybe it is a sign we have too many ways of communicating to parents.

Book Week:

This week is Book Week where some families love or hate it depending on their child's love of dressing up. Our parade will be on Friday at 9am. The theme is Book an Adventure however children can dress in whatever character or book they like. If you think carefully this means that any dress up can be made into a book. Throughout the week students will participate in different reading activities with the culmination on Friday afternoon at Assembly/Gathering where parents are welcome to join us.

Excursion:

This Wednesday our very lucky Year 3-6 students head off to Melbourne to see the musical Annie at the Princess Theatre. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the students to see a professional performance as they prepare for their own musical experience with our school production. Students will travel by train and return to Nagambie at 7.30pm.

While our 3-6 students are away the F-2 students have decided to Rule the School on that day and they have a number of fun activities that they will do. I look forward to seeing and hearing all about it.

Before/After School Duty:

A reminder that students should not be arriving at school before 8.30. Outside supervision is from 8.30-8.50 as staff use this time to prepare for the day. At the end of the day parents are responsible for supervising their children.

We are very fortunate to have Uniting provide before/after school care so please utilise this service if you require it. Please note that Uniting will be conducting professional learning/development for their staff to ensure continual improvement in their structures and programs that they provide our students/families. this will occur on 11/12 September so therefore there will be no care available on those days.

Behaviour Curriculum/Matrix:

Over the past few months staff have been working on developing a behaviour matrix that will outline expected behaviours/routines and consequences to ensure calm and safe learning environments for all. Although still in draft we will begin to implement this over the coming weeks to evaluate and adjust where needed.

Moooosical:

Very soon - Wednesday 11th September students will perform in this year's production - A Cow's Moosical at the Mechanic's Hall at 6.30pm. Tickets will be available from the office or on the night. $10 per adult. Children are free. A matinee at 12pm will also be provided (more as a dress rehearsal) for local kindergartens and Aged Care residents to attend. I'm sure you are hearing some catchy tunes  at home about a grumpy Mr Bull and 'Come to my Stall'.

Fete/Market - Sunday 19th October:

More about the Fete will be in the upcoming newsletters and Facebook in the coming weeks. Lots of behind the scenes is happening, getting donations and organising external stalls etc.

You can help right now by seeing if you have any books, clothes and toys that are no longer needed but are still in good condition to donate to the second hand stalls. If anyone has any coat hangers they would also be most appreciated. Please hold onto these until after the holidays though s we have no where to store them at the moment with production props etc taking up space.

Sacraments:

Four students are in the process of completing their Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on Sunday 31st August at 9am. We are looking forward to celebrating with Maysie, Lucas, Scout and Hunter as they take the next step in their faith journey.

There are no class pages this week so stay tuned for these pages in next newsletter's edition.

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Take care and stay safe,

Maree
