Term 2 has been a big one for the DVC Library. Earlier in the term we participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, with local MP Vicki Ward coming to read “The Truck Cat” to our year 7s, it was an adorable book and everyone enjoyed it. DVC was one of 16,632 locations that had an event for the Storytime.
We also spent a bit of time focusing on the 7-10 DVC Library Reading Challenge (still a mouthful, I know), which ties into the Premier’s Reading Challenge. We’ve had so many students log the books they’ve read this year, with our highest student having read 78 books so far! Altogether the students have logged a massive 1042 books so far, which is awesome. Can’t wait to see how many more books we log this year!
Staff and students from art, wellbeing, inclusion, and all over the school, also contributed to a great new piece of art for the library! The street art style ‘Godzilla’ piece was made with inspiration from a new Godzilla graphic novel, full of Australian street art, skateboarding, and giant monsters.
Finally some things to look forward to in Term 3;
There’s a media club starting up on Thursdays in the library, there’s both book week and library week, which are always a heap of fun, and there’ll be plenty of new books arriving. To keep up-to-date with library news and new books, follow the library’s Instagram: @dvc.library.
Enjoy the break!
