Year 10 Arts Students Create Sustainable Coral Tile Installation with Local Artist

Over the past five weeks, our Year 10 Art students have had the exciting opportunity to work alongside local ceramic artist Rob Matheson from ClayTalk at Montsalvat as part of a collaborative, sustainability-focused art project. Rob has been working on-site at Diamond Valley College, sharing his expertise in ceramic hand-building and guiding students in developing both technical and creative skills in clay.

This inspiring project has explored themes of environmental awareness and marine conservation, culminating in two large-scale ceramic coral tile installations that will soon be permanently displayed on the school grounds. These works not only showcase our students’ creativity but also highlight the importance of sustainability in contemporary art practice.

A huge thank you to artist Rob Matheson for his passion and commitment, and to Diamond Valley College staff Kellie Muller and project lead Kylie Triegaardt for their ongoing dedication and vision.

This project has been proudly supported by the Victorian Government Creative Arts Grant Program.

Stay tuned for the unveiling of these vibrant and meaningful student-led artworks on campus!
