Smiling Mind

Did you know that St Peter's practices daily 'regulation time' and uses Smiling Mind mindfulness resources to create a "moment of calm" throughout the day?  Smiling Mind has been proven to support students to increase their mental wellbeing⁴, have greater concentration & focus³, improve their academic performance¹, regulate their emotions, build better relationships⁵, and have improved resilience⁶.

The Smiling Mind curriculum has social emotional learning, and brain break activities based upon understanding our feelings and mindfulness practice.  Mindfulness supports us to focus on the present and can support emotional regulation by focusing on the here and now, not the past, or the future, which can lead to feelings of sadness or anxiety.  Thinking about what has happened or what may happen can have a big impact on mood and concentration.  Using mindfulness in the classroom has helped us create calmer classrooms.

Smiling Mind has information and resources to help at home too.  You might like to check out their website and download the free app.  Their resources have been developed by psychologists and teachers, and are free for families to help with:

Sleep - Establish good sleep routines and support a better night’s sleep for the whole family.

Meal times - Make mealtimes calmer and more enjoyable.

After school - Reset kids’ minds and bodies after a busy day of learning.

On the go - Engage with mindfulness while your family is travelling.

Weekends - Foster connection and help your family prepare for the week ahead.

Download the Smiling Mind app, sign-up and look for the ‘Families’ section under ‘Explore’ in the menu.

There are great sections for adults too!  After all parenting/caring isn't always easy and the adults have needs too.
