Scripture Reading – John 16:12–15

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”

Summary

In this passage, Jesus is preparing his disciples for his departure. He tells them there is still much for them to learn, but they are not ready yet. He promises the Holy Spirit, called the Spirit of Truth, who will come and guide them. The Spirit won’t speak alone but will speak what God wants, continuing Jesus’ teaching and helping them understand deeper truths over time. This reminds us that faith is a journey. We may not understand everything at once, but through the Holy Spirit, we grow in wisdom, trust, and clarity.

 Reflection Questions

  1. When have I felt like I didn’t fully understand God’s plan but trusted anyway?
  2. In what ways do I allow the Holy Spirit to guide my decisions or actions?
  3. How can I create quiet space in my life to listen more deeply to God?

Prayer

Loving God,

Thank you for sending the Spirit of truth to guide us.

Help me to be patient when I don’t have all the answers.

Open my heart to your wisdom; and help me trust that your Spirit is always with me, teaching, comforting, and leading me closer to you.

Amen.
