Year 9 Outdoor Education

Hiking the Bibbulmun Track
On Thursday, 12 June our Year 9 Outdoor Education students undertook their much-anticipated hiking expedition as part of the practical component of their course.
The hike, which followed approximately 17km of the iconic Bibbulmun Track, challenged students to apply the navigation and expedition planning skills they had developed in class.
Throughout the day, students took scheduled breaks to rest and refuel, enjoying their packed lunches in the peaceful surrounds of the jarrah forest. The expedition not only tested physical endurance but also encouraged collaboration, problem-solving, and resilience.
When the hike concluded, the students debriefed and reflected on their achievements before returning to the College by mid-afternoon. The staff were impressed with the students’ positive attitude, preparedness and mutual support throughout the journey.
A sincere thank you to Mr Brandon Truss an Mr Chris Newman and the support staff who ensured the success and safety of the expedition. Their leadership and care made the day a valuable learning experience for all involved.
We commend our Year 9 students on their enthusiastic participation and look forward to further adventures as part of the Outdoor Education program.
