From the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Friends of Mazenod College,

“Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.” (St Francis of Assisi).

At the heart of Catholic education lies not only the teaching of faith, but the living of it—through words, choices, and actions each day. At Mazenod College, we are called to move beyond theory and into practice, living out Gospel values in all that we do.

Whether it’s through acts of kindness in the classroom, service initiatives in our school or local community, or moments of quiet prayer and reflection, our students are learning that faith is not just something we speak about—it's something we do.

One great example this term was our Mazenod Mission Day including the generous contributions from our families. The compassion, initiative, and leadership spoke volumes of the efforts our young men have gone to. It reminded us that young people are capable of extraordinary empathy and that even small acts, offered in love, can become part of something much greater.

As we move hastily towards the end of this term and well and truly into the winter season, our students, staff and families are asked to make whatever contributions they can to our St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. The Vinnie’s motto this year is “this winter, help people break free from poverty and homelessness” and we continue to be grateful for what we have, and what we are able to share with the poor and those less fortunate.

As parents and educators, we share the vital, but collective task of forming young people who are not only capable learners, but also generous and compassionate citizens. Thank you for continuing to support this mission at home through conversations, encouragement, and example.

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank everyone in our community for the warm and generous responses to the news of my appointment to Chisholm Catholic College in 2026. While I am saddened to be leaving such a remarkable community, I am deeply grateful for the kind sentiments that have been shared. I remain fully committed to serving Mazenod with dedication and purpose throughout the remainder of this year.

“The poor are close to Jesus’ heart—and they should be close to ours too. If we really follow Jesus, we’ll care for those who need it most.” (St Eugene de Mazenod).

God bless.
