The Performing Arts program at Marist College Ashgrove has continued to thrive in the latter half of Term 2, with our talented students delivering outstanding performances both at the College and across Brisbane. Our young musicians have once again represented the College with pride and excellence across a range of musical settings.
A major highlight of the term was the Wind & Percussion Concerts, which showcased the vibrant energy and musicality of our ensembles. These spirited performances confirmed the event’s place as one of the cornerstones of the Performing Arts calendar. The ensembles now turn their focus toward preparations for the Catholic Colleges Music Festival, set to take place in August (Term 3).
The Marist College Ashgrove Guitar Summit brought together all of the College’s guitar ensembles for a collaborative afternoon of rehearsals and workshops. We were pleased to welcome guest performers from Mary MacKillop College (Nundah), culminating in a combined performance and a special guest appearance by Tyler Cooney & Joseph Rabjohns. The event was a wonderful celebration of the versatility and depth of our guitar program.
Thank you to all musicians and the wider MCA community who participated in the Champagnat Day Mass. Through music and shared voice, we honoured the legacy of St Marcellin Champagnat with a deeply moving celebration that resonated with our community and Marist spirit worldwide.
The Chamber Choir was honoured to perform at St Stephen’s Cathedral alongside the Cathedral Choir and other elite ensembles from St Rita’s College, St Laurence’s College, Villanova College, and Lourdes Hill College. This special event premiered a new mass setting composed by Dr Maeve Heaney, celebrating faith through beautiful choral music. It was an inspiring evening that reflected the strength of our Catholic musical community.
We’re pleased to share the tentative performance times for ensembles participating in the upcoming QCMF at Villanova College. Final confirmation of these times will be published in the final newsletter of the term:
