Art
Recently in Art, our students have been exploring different artists from around the world. Here is what each year level has learnt so far:
Prep: Preps are currently creating pumpkins inspired by Yayoi Kasama; using her signature polka dots.
Year 1/2 and Year 2/3: Students looked at the art of Keith Haring. Students created their own artworks using oil pastels, mirr Haring's dancing cartoon characters.
Year 4/5: Student's researched the life of food artist Claes Oldenburg and created beautiful posters. Students are currently creating their own yummy food from clay.
Year 6: Year 6's researched their own artist and created a colourful poster presentation. Currently students are developing a final artwork inspired by their chosen artist's style.
Physical Education
This fortnight, Year’s 2-6 have continued their ball handling skills/invasion games unit through exploring some defence tactics, such as interception. All of our students had so much fun practising these skills in small group activities, and a whole class game of Golden Child: netball version. Meanwhile, Foundation - Year 2 students have continued having so much fun in their Gymnastics unit. Each week I have added a new activity to our gymnastics circuit for students to further develop their balance, coordination, and strength. Everybody has improved tremendously in their log rolls, motorbike landings,, straddle jumps with safe landing, and have started attempting some partnered balance activities.
Drama
4, 5 & 6 Students have been hard at work learning lines for their plays, to be perfomred early next term!
4/5 X will be performing Beowulf, an exhilarating journey, where a fearless hero confronts monstrous foes and dragons, embodying the timeless struggle between courage and destiny.
4/5 S will be performing Jekyll & Hyde, the tale of a well respected doctor who creates a potion that turns him into the wild and sneaky Mr. Hyde.
6 P will be performing Peter Pan, the magical adventure to Neverland, where kids never grow up and anything is possible!
We are so proud of their progress and are loving the effort they have put into creating props over the past few weeks!
PUP-DATE!
Marli, our wonderful foster dog a few years ago is doing really well as a fully accredited service dog in Perth.
Marli is supporting a person with health issues to be able to live a more normal life. Marli's handlers are so proud of him and are so grateful for all that the Bunyip Primary School community did to support his training in 2022/2023
Speaking of Pups, Owen is doing super well as our Engagement and Wellbeing Dog at Bunyip Primary School. A lot of work is being done behind the scenes, including applying for grants and completing training tasks, to assist Owen in becoming the Best Boy at Bunyip. Look how much he's grown since he first started his learning last year!
Owen's favourite past-times include: greeting families in the morning, 'cleaning' crumbs off the fake grass and floor, walks at recess and lunch, getting hugs and pats, and, most importantly, supporting our students when they need a bit of TLC, or are learning some new content.
