Over the last few weeks in Maths, we have been exploring a range of topics related to shape and measurement. Students have investigated 2D and 3D shapes, identified and constructed composite shapes, and practised measuring and classifying angles. They have enjoyed creating tessellating patterns and applying transformations, including reflection (flip), translation (slide), and rotation (turn). We've also worked on calculating the area and perimeter of regular and irregular shapes. These activities have supported students in building spatial reasoning and applying their learning to real-world situations.
In Literacy, students have been learning to identify and explore the use of nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adverbial phrases within procedural texts. They applied this knowledge when writing their own engaging procedures, such as How to Make the Ultimate Monster Milkshake, then made one for themselves!
In reading, students have examined a range of poetry types and structures, including acrostic, haiku, shape, and rhyming poems. They analysed how poets use language and form to create meaning before using these techniques to create their own poems for a poetry anthology.
