A huge congratulations to all Prep Guy students for completing our assessments to the best of your abilities. You all should be proud of yourselves for showing growth in your first semester of school.
Over the past two weeks, in Literacy we have continued reading non fiction texts and finding information using the contents page, photos, labelled pictures and index page finding information about topics of student's choice. We have also been working on rhyming words, aliteration, consonant vowel consonant words, writing sentences, editing our work and adding more information to our writing.
In Numeracy we have finished our learning around addition and subtraction and have moved to length, using words such as shorter, taller, long, longer and longest, measuring items from the classroom and each other! We have also been learning about prepositions such as behind, in front of, next to, beside, below, under, over, far away, near, in, out and between.
Congratulations to Daxton being voted in by his peers last week as our Student Of The Week. Students said Daxton was chosen because he always trying his absolute best. This week Lucy was voted in by her classmates for showing respect; treating others the way she would like to be treated. Well done Daxton and Lucy, Prep Guy are so proud of you both.
If you would like to discuss your child's progress at any time, please call into our classroom; my door is always open to you.
Unfortunately, Miss Stoll is away and is unable to participate in this weeks newsletter.
It's hard to believe we are in Week 9 of Term 2 already!! Students have taken in so much learning this term and should all be super proud of themselves, assessment is finished and it has been amazing to see the growth in our students. 🤩🤩
Our Learning
In Literacy, we are learning about fiction and non-fiction books and the differences between the two types of books. Students had to work in pairs and explore the library shelves to look for a fiction book and a non-fiction book; they had to write down their book titles on post-it notes and then come back and present to the class about the different books they had discovered.
In Numeracy, we have been learning about Addition. Students have been learning lots of different strategies to assist them when they add their numbers together. We have looked at the split strategy, ten frames, number lines, using whiteboards and manipulatives to help us with adding our numbers together. Next week, they will be looking at subtraction.
Student Achiever Awards
Well Done to Nathan and Bel on being our Student Achievers.
Nathan worked super hard on his learning tasks and was a good role model for other students to see how to complete their work. Nathan was a great helper, with handing out sheets, collecting work and making sure things were put away. Well Done, Nathan!!
Bel is a Respectful and Responsible student in our class. She always follows directions and is a good role model to the students in our class on how to behave. Bel works super hard on all her learning tasks. Well Done, Bel!!
