End of Term 2 Message
As we come to the end of Term 2, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our school families for their generous contributions and support of our St Vincent de Paul appeal. Your kindness and compassion continue to make a real difference in the lives of others.
We wish you and your loved ones a safe, warm and restful holiday break. May this be a time of renewal and joy for your families.
We are already looking forward to the start of Term 3, where we will begin preparations with our Year 6 students as they journey toward receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is a special and sacred time in their faith development, and we are excited to walk alongside them.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support and partnership.
Sunday's Gospel - Matthew 16:13-19 - The Rock
In this passage from the bible, Simon declares to Jesus that he is the son of God, whilst others were still unsure. Jesus changed Simon's name to Peter coming from the 'Greek' word 'petros' meaning 'The Rock' because of his strength and conviction. Jesus gave him the keys and authority to build his church.
This would have been such an honour to commence the first church.
- What does it mean to “build the Church” on someone’s faith?
- How do we show that we believe Jesus is the Son of God?
- What "rocks" do we build our lives on—faith, love, values?
- How can we help each other grow in faith like Peter did?
- Are we ready to answer Jesus if He asked, "Who do you say I am?"
Our Psalms from 1/2A- Miss Maio
Religious Education: Psalms
Students have been learning about Psalms (pronounced 'sarms') in the Bible over a number of lessons. Psalms are mostly songs or poetry written by King David, Moses, King Solomon, Asaph and others. There are 150 psalms in the Bible. Students learnt about psalms of praise and how they show gratitude and praise for God and Creation. They explored 4 Psalms and were explicitly shown how to construct their own psalm using aspects of Creation.
Learning Intenton:
- We are learning to create our own Psalm.
Success Criteria:
- I can start my psalm with 'Let ...'
- I can choose parts of creation to praise.
- I can use the words 'God' or 'Lord' in my psalm.
- I can use some or all of these words: praise, joy, rejoice, good, glad.
Tuesday Class Masses
Every Tuesday one of our classes joins the parishioners at the 10am morning mass. We would love you to join us to support the students as they connect with our parish community. This is our last one for the term and we hope that you can be there.
