'A Welcoming Community Leading the Future of Learning with Faith and Love'

A Message from the Principal

Gratitude abounds at St John's Mitcham for all that we have achieved, celebrated, learnt and shared together. Our greatest achievement will undoubtedly be our School Production this Wednesday evening. You are all going to be blown away by the amount of talented singers, dancers and actors we have here at St John's. All of your children will be shining as they take to the stage and I cannot wait to share this very memorable night with you all.

The growth in student learning this semester is also something to be celebrated. I really appreciate all of the hard work and dedication from my staff to enable your children to flourish, as they learn and grow together in differentiated and engaging classrooms. Your child's school report will be emailed to you tomorrow and will provide feedback on your child’s many achievements, successes and academic progress. I am grateful for your ongoing support and appreciation throughout this term, as your trust and partnership ensures significant growth for all of our students and provides affirmation and encouragement for our magnificent staff.

On Thursday we will finish the Term with an assembly at 12.15pm and final dismissal will be at 1pm. At this final assembly we will share some great learning from the term and I will be giving out 'Aussie of the Month Awards' for this semester. I hope that you can join us.

A reminder that there will be no school on Friday. This day is given as Time in Lieu to the staff for all of their out of school hour events that they have attended on behalf of the school.

Seesaw

We encourage all parents to visit the Seesaw Website to login to your child's Digital Portfolio. This will contain samples of your child's learning across all curriculum areas from this semester. It will support your childs school report which you will receive the link to this week. https://seesaw.com/australia/

Christmas in July Card Competition

Nick McGowan MP has provided Christmas Card design sheets for students to complete over the school holidays as part of a local competition to select an official 2025 Community Christmas Card for Ringwood. Design sheets will be sent home with students this week if they would like to participate and return at the beginning of Term 3.

Good luck!

New Music Teacher

Due to the incredible uptake of music classes at St John's this year, Anthony, our Music Teacher, has been able to secure a dedicated piano teacher to assist him with lessons on Tuesday mornings. His name is Nhan. If there are any keen beans who would like to learn piano during Semester 2, please reach out for more information.

" Hi! I’m the new piano teacher here at school. I’ve been teaching for four years and studied music at Box Hill. I work mostly with beginners and love helping students learn in a way that suits them best. I use different books and songs to keep things interesting and fun. What I enjoy most is making music easy to understand, even when it seems tricky at first. My goal is to help students enjoy playing and feel confident enough to one day play with others—whether that’s with friends, family or even in a band! "- Nhan Nguyen

INTRODUCING FRIDAY SNACKBAR

Starting On Friday, 1 August we will be introducing Friday Snack Bar, this is going to be an ongoing fundraiser for term 3 & 4, all money raised will go towards our Year 6 end of year Graduation. Every Friday the students can purchase a snack for $1, Term 3 will be Cinnamon Donuts, Term 4 will be Icy Poles.

Orders will be taken on a Wednesday, cash will be given to the classroom teacher at the beginning of the day, Donuts will be delivered to the classroom in time for lunch on Friday. (There will be opportunities for late orders to be taken so no student will miss out ).

For this to be successful we will need 2 volunteers that can help on a Friday morning for about 1.5 hours at school, we will set up a roster and you will be well supported. Many hands make light work. Grandparents are also welcome to come along and help.

Please email me, Eileen Dalton, on eileen3dalton@outlook.com if you would like to help out on a Friday morning.
