Student Learning Progress Communication

Thank you to all families and students who have booked in for our Term 3 Parent-Teacher Interviews this week. A reminder that communication of student learning progress is visible through Compass Learning Tasks throughout the year for students in Year 7-12, with Semester reports made available in Term 2 and Term 4. Parents and guardians are encouraged to keep open communication with classroom teachers at any time throughout the year, contacting them by phone or email.

Road Smart Interactive Program

Our Year 9 and 10 students have been engaging in the Road Smart Interactive Program, facilitated by a group of experienced road safety educators. This incursion utilises the latest immersive technology to engage students in thinking about how they can be part of the solution to making everyone safer on roads.

In this program, students worked through six different interactive digital experiences, where each experience explored a different area of the Safe System approach. This encourages students to think about the role that safe speeds, road design, vehicle safety features and road user behaviours have in achieving zero lives lost on our roads.

This program can help reduce the risk of serious injury for children and young people by supporting them to develop skills and knowledge to be safe pedestrians, cyclists and future drivers. By providing our students with a comprehensive framework around what is needed to create a Safe System, Road Smart Interactive supports young people to identify and take action to address road safety risks in our school community.

Our Year 9 students have been busy putting their learning into action through a range of meaningful community projects. This term, they have stepped beyond the classroom to contribute their time, energy, and creativity to a variety of local organisations and initiatives.

Students have made a positive impact at Bupa Aged Care, where they brightened the day of residents through conversations and activities, and at Big Group Hug, where they supported efforts to provide essential items for families in need. Others lent a hand at Lalor Neighbourhood House, assisted with environmental projects through Landcare, or worked as helpers in our Primary Years classrooms, supporting younger learners. Some students also expressed their talents through art projects at school, enriching our community with colour and creativity.

In addition to their community involvement, students took part in the Road Smart Interactive incursion program, presented in partnership with Melbourne Museum. This engaging session encouraged them to think critically about road safety, responsibility, and decision-making as they prepare for the next stage of independence in their lives.

We are proud of the way our Year 9 students are developing skills, empathy, and a sense of social responsibility through these experiences.
