Ryan’s Rambling
Dear Families,
Welcome to the final newsletter for 2024. As I write this, I find myself reflecting on a fantastic year for Dana Street but also questions where the year has gone.
We have much to be proud of at Dana Street. This year saw us recognised for our outstanding Literacy Results and I am just so proud of how hard our staff have worked to achieve this. Our Strategic Review was completed, and we have a robust and aspirational new Strategic Plan to commence next year. Our students have continued to inspire us all with their creativity and tenacity; we are so lucky to be surrounded by them. Our parents have continued to be staunch supporters of us, and we have truly appreciated your partnership.
On Wednesday evening, we celebrated a fantastic group of students. Our 2024 Graduates will be sorely missed by our staff, and we wish them all well for the future. Our staff enjoyed a meal with the students before they had their Graduation Ceremony, where laughs smiles and tears were shared. I am really going to miss these kids but know that the future is bright with them at the helm.
Sadly, it is time for us to farewell some departing staff members. Ros Davine has been with us for the past three years and has endeared herself to both staff and students. Ros’ dedication and sense of humour will be missed. Jenna Cray has had a positive and productive almost twelve months with us at Dana Street and I thank her for her commitment to our students. Maya Richards sadly leaves us for a new venture in Warrnambool. Maya will be sorely missed by so many, and she has left a lasting impression on all of us. Hannah Handreck also finishes up with us today, after a wonderful 12 months of supporting many of our students. Thank you for your time and dedication to our school.
Last week at our Values assembly, we were lucky to have Federal Parliamentary Member, Catherine King, present the Community Award. It was our own Kellie Healy who, just this year, celebrated 20 years of service to Dana Street Primary School. Kellie’s commitment to ensuring our students are safe, happy and supported has been exceptional. It was a very nice moment to honour Kellie in front of her family and our school community.
As we head into the final week of school, I wanted to thank our entire school community for a fantastic year. However you choose to spend the next few weeks, I do hope that you are able to celebrate with those who matter the most with peace and harmony. For those who celebrate it, have a fantastic festive season. I look forward to another positive year for our students in 2024.
Ryan 😊
