Christmas Messages

Specialist Classes

Performing Arts - Mrs. Brigid Malcolm

Our final few weeks are upon us and we are having a wonderful, creative time in the Performing Arts classes. Senior students have been filming their scripts, we will then be watching the performances and providing feedback on their films. Junior students have explored music and drama through topics such Harry Potter, Dinosaurs and Christmas. We are also spending time exploring the fabulous instruments that we have here at Our Lady's. Students have been creating their own short melodies and sharing this with their peers.

Our final days together will be spent busily rehearsing performances for our end of year Christmas Carols. Please come and join us on Monday 16th at 2:00pm to see their wonderful performances.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community for your support over the many years that I have spent at Our Lady's. It has been an absolute blessing to have worked here, and I will always hold such fond memories of this school. Wishing you all the best for the final few weeks of the year and beyond.

Auslan - Miss  Lucia Alesiani

Students have continued to do a wonderful job in Auslan this year. I am really impressed with their commitment to learn signs and expand their knowledge.

This semester a lot of our activities have been focussed on putting our knowledge of signs together to be able to have simple conversations and play games.

We have expanded our Auslan knowledge with topics that connect us to our family, friends and school. Students have participated in role plays, one on one conversations and games. We have continued to learn about Deaf culture and how important Auslan is in our community.

Deaf culture is the set of social beliefs, behaviours, history and values shared by the deaf community. We have learnt about some of the difficulties Deaf people face in our community.

Students have improved their vocabulary by revising signs related to descriptive words about themselves, others and objects in Auslan. This has been done through picture talk and games.

Students have enjoyed learning to sign the chorus of various popular songs, which they seem to enjoy immensely.

Foundation and Grade 1/2 have watched various Auslan stories and learnt some of the signs from the stories as well as complete activities related to the signs.

Grades 2/3, 3/4 and 5/6, have been involved in making videos to practise signing about various topics we cover in class. Doing this allows students to see what they look like signing and be able to reflect on and improve their signs.

Wishing all families a Happy Christmas and fantastic holiday break. I look forward to seeing you next year.

Sport - Mr. Joshua Naish

As the year comes to an end, I would just like to say a big thank you to all the wonderful students that we have here at Our Lady’s. It has been great fun teaching you PE throughout this year, and while at times we have been challenged by the weather, it has been fantastic to see you all improve in a range of different areas.

Some of the highlights for the year include:

  • The great perseverance that everyone showed during our Cross-Country Event.
  • The respect and improvement shown by our Grade 5/6 students during our 6-week netball program led by Chaye Crimmins from Netball Victoria.
  • The willingness of our students from Grade 3-6 to participate in our school Athletics Carnival.
  • The participation and overall encouragement of everyone involved in our whole school Sports Carnival. An extra well done to those students in Pangerang who were worthy winners this year.
  • The willingness to participate in Socktober. Students participated in soccer activities using sockballs as part of Mission Week to gain an understanding of how soccer can be played in countries that are less fortunate than us.
  • The improvement all students showed throughout our school swimming program.

Lastly, I like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Christmas period, and I look forward to another wonderful year at Our Lady’s in 2025.

Visual Art - Mel Harper

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by—it feels like we just started, and here we are already wrapping up. It’s been an incredible year in art, with so much hard work, creativity, and talent shining through.

This year, we’ve explored a wide range of projects, and the results have been nothing short of amazing. From sketching self-portraits that capture unique personalities to creating stunning landscape artworks, each piece has showcased incredible growth and artistic expression.

We’ve also dived into hands-on creations, like crafting intricate trees from wire and bringing ideas to life with 3D pictures. It’s been wonderful to see everyone pushing their boundaries, experimenting with new techniques, and sharing their perspectives through art.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm, dedication, and creativity this year. I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved together. Wishing you a festive holiday season filled with joy and inspiration.  It’s the end of an era as I transition from art teacher to take on an exciting new position as the sports teacher in 2025.

See you in the new year for more adventures!
