News from the Rowing Sheds

Everyone should be super proud of these results in what were very difficult conditions for most of the day.

A HUGE thank you to all of our parents and friends of rowing. St Mary’s and St Virgil’s were given the opportunity to organise and run a fundraising canteen at the Junior Regatta. Our families and friends did an amazing job getting many donations of fresh or baked goods for sale to the cold, wet and hungry crowds. As a result of these amazing efforts, more than $5,000 was raised, which will certainly help with the costs of rowing.

Fine-tuning of crews and combinations has been done as we move to one of our biggest regattas – the Tasmanian All Schools Championships, which will be held at Lake Barrington this weekend.

Thank you

Last year, both St Mary’s and St Virgil’s College principals generously agreed to donate two sets of sculling oars for our rowers. At nearly $8,000, this was a very generous contribution and one that is most appreciated by our rowers. The oars were finally delivered just prior to Club Regatta 6 and have already had a very good workout.
