What's happening in Boarding?

Kambala Boarders' Stand Up Paddleboarding Adventure

In week 6, the Kambala Boarders took to the water for an exciting recreational outing  - Stand Up Paddleboarding! With clear skies and crystal-clear water, the conditions were ideal, although a gentle breeze added an extra challenge, keeping everyone on their toes (and occasionally in the water).

The girls embraced the experience with enthusiasm, balancing the thrill of mastering their boards with plenty of laughter and encouragement. Whether paddling gracefully or testing their balance, they demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout the activity.

After an invigorating session on the water, the group capped off the adventure with a well-deserved ice cream, enjoying the sunshine and celebrating their efforts. It was a perfect blend of challenge, fun, and relaxation, creating memories the girls will cherish.

Christmas Shopping and Wicked the Movie

Last weekend, the Kambala Boarders enjoyed a memorable outing to Bondi Junction Westfield, fully embracing the holiday spirit with a fun-filled Christmas shopping spree.

The girls eagerly explored the bustling shopping centre, selecting gifts for loved ones and soaking up the festive atmosphere. It was a wonderful opportunity to share in the joy of the season, bond with friends, and tick off those Christmas wish lists.

The afternoon continued with a trip to the cinema to watch the highly anticipated box office hit Wicked. The girls were captivated by the spellbinding performances and couldn't resist singing along to the iconic soundtrack, filling the theatre with their enthusiasm. The movie was Part 1 only, hence the girls are now eagerly awaiting Part 2.

This outing was a perfect blend of fun, friendship, and festivity, leaving everyone in high spirits and ready to embrace the season of giving.

Boarding Fun- Rec Activities

Elf on the Shelf has been an entertaining addition to the mornings in the Boarding House. The girls have enjoyed finding the Elf around the house and discovering the antics the elf gets up to.

The Sydney weather has been warming up and with it, the water. Our Tuesday afternoons at Milk Beach for a quick mid week refresher have been well attended. We even added an after dinner swim on one of our very hot days and saw the Tivoli fox on our walk home.

The girls have been getting prepared for all their new Boarding buddies by making contact with the incoming 2025 new Boarders to answer any questions they might have about joining Kambala.

Saturday Sport

Week 6

It was an exciting week of sport with some mixed results in the semi final touch games across the grades.

Poppy and Polly’s team (Year11) - the Kambala Senior A’s played and unfortunately lost their semi finals this week.

We played St Vincent’s (Vinnie's) in the semi final with the first try being scored by Kambala with Vinnie's scoring immediately after. We scored again with an easy run away try and then came back with two tries after that. By the second half it was 3-2 to Vinnie's with Kambala scoring one more to compete for the win. St Vincent’s ended up getting away with the win of 8-3 by the end of the game. Everyone worked hard until the end of the game and we were happy with how we played as a team and are all very excited to be attending a beach touch competition on Wednesday at Maroubra.

Lili B’s team the Kambala Senior 3’s had an amazing win over Kincoppal-Rose Bay, the score was 7-2. Lilli played her old dorm mate Gracie O’Brien and both girls played exceptionally well, gaining player of the match on their respective teams. Congratulations Lilli and Good Luck for your finals next week.

Eva H  and the Kambala 5’s played a challenging semi-final of touch football, finally defeating St Vincent's College 5-2. Congratulations to Eva who scored a try for Kambala and Good Luck for the Finals!

Week 7

Micaela Doobov’s Touch team unfortunately lost to Sceggs Normanhurst in these foggy conditions, but she didn’t walk away empty handed. The officiant of the match rewarded Micaela with a medal saying that even though her team didn’t win, Micaela played like a winner. We are very proud of her for this achievement.

Boarding Food

This week we have undertaken a full review of the menu for 2025 with a focus on reducing refined sugar and improving the balance of meals across the menu to best meet the nutritional needs of our girls.

Fruit bowls are available all day for the girls to snack on and there are always at least 4 options of different fruit available.

One of the significant changes for 2025 will be made to morning and afternoon teas to help girls make healthy choices.
