The Week That Was
Literacy: This week in Literacy, our students have been busy revisiting and consolidating the sounds we have learned throughout the year. Using whiteboards for spelling and writing practice, they are building their confidence in blending and segmenting words. With the festive season upon us, we’ve also been diving into Christmas-themed stories. These magical tales have inspired students to craft their own creative Christmas writing pieces, showcasing their imaginations, and growing literacy skills.
Numeracy: In Numeracy, we read the delightful story Rainbow Fish, which sparked a hands-on exploration of sharing and grouping as an introduction to multiplication concepts. Students practiced distributing scales among different groups of fish, laying the foundation for understanding equal groups and fair sharing. These early steps towards multiplication were met with excitement and enthusiasm!
Ice-cream Day: A big congratulations to all our students for their continued efforts in earning scoops to fill the ice-cream jar! Their positive behaviour, teamwork, and perseverance have been rewarded with a highly anticipated Ice-cream Day. The students had a fantastic time selecting and ordering their own ice creams—a well-deserved treat for their hard work!
Friendly Reminders:
- Swimming starts tomorrow! Please ensure your child has all the required items (swimmers, towel, goggles, etc.) clearly labelled. Remember to pack their regular school essentials, including snack, lunch, and hat.
- Carols Night: Join us next Monday, 9th December 2024, from 5:00–7:00 pm for a festive evening of Carols. We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you!
Thank you for your ongoing support as we head into the final weeks of the year. It’s a busy yet exciting time for our Prep students!
