Welcome to 2025

Welcome to the beginning of another exciting year and a special welcome to the families joining us in Foundation. We hope you and your children had a restful and joyful holiday season, and are ready for a new class, some new friends and most importantly, a year full of learning and growth.

As we begin this new chapter, our focus continues to be on nurturing the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of each child. We will continue to focus on our students’ strong academic growth with the further development of our curriculum, growth coaching for all our staff and further commitment to explicit direct instruction.

We are delighted to have five of our classes in the new building section of level one. All of our Year 3 – 6 classes have had a ‘make-over’ with new furniture and a consistent use of more natural colours. We have created very calming spaces, and the students will respond well to this environment.

I trust that most of you will be able to attend our Parent Information sessions next week (Wednesday 5 February) and experience these spaces firsthand.

Our undercover play area is also amazing, and we are truly blessed to have these facilities. Thank you for your patience with parking. I am sure you have noticed that the work on the staff parking is well underway, so we can look forward to this being completed by this time next year, freeing up those much-needed parking spaces for you all.

Buildings and play areas, though, are just the visuals, appreciated by us all, but what makes Emmaus truly special is the fact that all we do is founded in our love of Jesus, and we never lose sight of the fact that it is all to His glory. My prayer is that we shine as a light in our world and that those looking at Emmaus from beyond our boundaries see the love of God and seek to experience this for themselves.

Partnership with you all is important, and we are blessed by a strong group of parent representatives who will work closely with you to engage all of you in our work. Remember too that the best way to support your child’s success is by working together with us as a team. We encourage you to stay involved in your child’s learning. Attending school events, volunteering, and staying in touch with teachers are all important as we continue to build our community. Communication is key, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Key dates for your diary

Year 3 – 6 Swimming, Monday - Friday 3 - 7 February

Details are being sent to all families, but we do need volunteers to assist with all our ‘off-site’ activities. Please let your class teacher know if you can assist, even if only for one day.

Student Photo Day, Tuesday 4 February

Parent Information Night - Wednesday 5 February

This evening is designed for you to get to know your child’s teacher, their expectations and to get to know the other parents in your child’s class. There will be an opportunity at the end of each session to chat with other parents in the class. We also stagger the sessions so that you can visit more than one classroom.

Foundation – Year 2, 6:30 – 7:15 (with the opportunity to stay and chat if you have no other class to visit).

Years 3 – 6, 7:15 – 8:00 with time to chat after this.

Parent Teacher Interviews - Tuesday and Wednesday, 25 and 26 February

Details will come closer to these dates.

Year 3 – 6 Sports Day - Friday 7 March

Please regularly check the college calendar to ensure that you have upcoming events in your diary. These are important for your child as we continue our partnership together.

I look forward to seeing you all next week at our Information Sessions.
