The Middle Team 

This term our students have inquired into ‘Exploration leads to discovery and new understandings.’ Students inquired into explorers over time and from around the world. They looked at explorers who had explored underwater, on land and by air. Students inquired into why people explore, the impact of exploration and how exploration looks in the 21st century. Students began with a scavenger hunt, followed by some sketch noting about different explorers and an in-depth inquiry into Mawson before students chose their own explorer to research. Students prepared a slide show which included information about the explorer’s early life, their explorations, their accomplishments and maps of their explorations. Students also created some sensational back drops in Art for their explorers and sourced a costume for the exhibition. The finale was our ‘Night at the Museum’ Exhibition, which the community attended. The students enjoyed sharing their new knowledge and understandings with the community.
