Music Report - May 2025
Congratulations to the new national anthem performance group for assembly on their first performance together. Lots of talented Primary students were involved in this performance, along with a couple of Secondary students for support. It was wonderful to see another group of brave musicians accompanying the school community while they sing the national anthem at Thursday mornings assembly – you sounded amazing and we look forward to you growing in strength as you perform on a regular basis.
Also a big thankyou to Sarah Simko who presented the Last Post at the ANZAC assembly on her trumpet – it was wonderful to see a student step up and play for the community while we reflected on the stories that were told with thankful hearts.
During Week 4, the Year 7/8 students travelled to The Summit Camp and were involved in a number of outdoor activities. During the evening sessions on camp, students gathered together in devotion and a time of worship to build community and worship our creator. Thankyou to the students in Year 7/8 who volunteered to be apart of facilitating worship songs. I was amazed at the number of students who were keen to be apart of the team on camp and I look forward to seeing you all grow as you seek more opportunities to utilize those musical skills that God has given to you.
Our Winter Concert is just around the corner in Week 7 of this term. On Thursday 5 June, all students in Year 7 and 8 will come together to perform, showcasing their efforts in the band program. They will perform within their year level to a very high standard and have been working in class all semester for this performance. Looking forward to some special performances by the Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Year 9/10 music class to add some extra items to the evening. This evening is open to all family and friends to be apart of the audience as well as teachers and other students to come and support the students.
Rehearsals are well under way for the House Performing Arts event. Please note the date change to Wednesday 25 June, Periods 5 and 6 for Secondary students. An event not to be missed. It is so exciting to see the leadership of students in higher year levels, mentoring our young Year 7s and 8s in what promises to be a wonderful celebration of the God given talents and gifts our students have.
Looking forward to Semester 2, if you would like to start some private music lessons, we will have some more spots open up for all instruments. The following instruments are available for students to learn: Piano, Guitar, Drums/Percussion, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet and Trombone. For more information, please contact the music admin team via email at music.admin@christway.vic.edu.au. Attached below is the instrumental information booklet and enrolment form.
