Year 7 Starbooks Club

Our Year 7 students started their English term with a "Starbooks" book-tasting event. The school café was filled with exciting books of various themes, inviting students to explore different genres and discover new favourites.

This engaging activity aims to spark a love for reading by allowing students to "taste" a variety of books through browsing excerpts, engaging with captivating covers and discussing potential reads with their peers. By exposing them to diverse storylines and writing styles, we hope to ignite their reading passion and empower them to choose books that truly resonate with their interests.

After "tasting", students were split into book club groups of three to six members, based on their top choices. The book clubs will meet for one English period per week and the students will use their book club journals to guide their discussion time. 

Ask your child what their book club is and to tell you a bit about it! I hope you have some great literary discussions around the dinner table.
