Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and families,
I trust all of our mothers had a special day on last Sunday........well at least part of it around childrens' sport, catching up with extended families etc.
Last Friday we warmly welcomed Mums and other special visitors for our annual Mother's Day Celebration. Thanks of course to all of our visitors who took time off work and/or travelled some distance to be here- I'm sure you put a smile of your child's face. It seemed to be a very special morning for all and thanks to staff for their donation of raffle prizes, organisation of the day, particularly Mrs Brooking who is instrumental in this occasion every year.
On Monday we held our Final Open Morning and I was very proud to show off our school to this interested group of potential parents. I have certainly been very pleased to have so many interested families this year across the tours who have considered St Anne's as a possible choice for their child/children's schooling.
Today we had our whole School Photo and it was taken near the hall looking back at the school. It is a different perspective to the many we have displayed. Thank you all for sending your child as requested in their uniform.
Tomorrow is an incredibly busy day commencing with our annual Walk to School morning which you may like to join in with. Thank you to Mrs McKenzie who has been sharing details with our community about this. The day itself will be very busy with a Foundation Excursion to the Zoo on Friday 16 May and then a "Space and Natural Disasters" educator who will work with our Year 5/6 students on Friday 16 May as part of their Inquiry Unit.
Next week:
- On Monday and Tuesday we will have a visitors in the school who will join with a number of our staff in the hall to complete their Berry St training. This is a trauma informed approach to supporting students with their wellbeing and is something almost all of our staff will have receievd training in after these two days.
- On Wednesday we have our Grandparents' morning and we warmly look forward to them joining us for this. We usually have this celebration on our Feast Day as we remember St Anne and St Joachim who are of course the Grandparents of Jesus. We have had to bring this day forward this year due to the impending build.
- Thursday and Friday are school closure days and staff will not be on site. We will be working with Fr Elio Capra on using the creative arts to enhance our religious lessons for the students. The next day we will be looking at strategies to enhance learning in numeracy as part of a current MACS initiative. We thank you for making arrangements for these days and Moira has said that Happy Kids Out of School Care will be operating both days in our school hall.
- Our Year 3-6 swimming program will be held between 26-30th May
Thanks again for a wonderful week, and we look forward to what’s ahead!
God Bless
