Year 3/4 News

Leannder, Chris, Sean and Manpreet

We’ve had an exciting and busy start to Term 2, and it’s been wonderful to see students return with such enthusiasm and energy. From special commemorative activities to engaging incursions and outdoor adventures, there has been no shortage of learning and fun. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from the first few weeks of term.

ANZAC DAY

Our students undertook different activities to discover why we commemorate ANZAC Day. 3/4A explored the role that animals played during times of service, learning about the bravery and loyalty of horses, dogs, and carrier pigeons. 3/4B worked with partners to research key facts about the World Wars to deepen their understanding. 3/4C read ‘ANZAC Ted’ to learn more about the ANZAC spirit and the traits of courage and loyalty. All classes created poppies to symbolise remembrance and respect.

NED'S RESILIENCE RIDE

Another highlight this term was the Ned’s Resilience Ride incursion. Students were captivated by a performance full of incredible yoyo tricks and engaging stories. More importantly, they walked away with practical strategies for building resilience by learning the acronym NED – Never give up, Encourage others, Do your best. It was a fun and memorable way to reinforce a growth mindset in our learners.

CAMP ILUKA

Meanwhile, some of our Year 4 students had the exciting opportunity to attend Camp Iluka. They challenged themselves with outdoor activities, developed their teamwork skills, and made lasting memories with their peers.

Sanjana, 3/4A : "At camp we did many things. When we were tree climbing, we had to wear helmets. We were all excited to do this. We climbed up blocks that the other people were building for us. We also climbed a tree. They had rocks on them, so it was easy to climb. I did not want to do it, so I did the block climbing instead."

Kabya, 3/4C: “I really enjoyed camp because of the activities varying from stand-up paddleboarding, tree climbing, canoeing and a lot more.”

Vira, 3/4C: “Even though the activities were good, the food was also yummy. At camp we never got hungry because there were so many snack breaks!”

Leroy, 3/4C: “I really liked it. We did bush cooking, surfing and kayaking and stand up paddle.”

It’s been a wonderful start to Term 2, full of learning, reflection, and connection.
