Year 10 French

French Film Festival Excursion

On the last Thursday of Term 1, our Senior French students enjoyed a fantastic cultural outing to the French Film Festival at Kino Cinema. They watched Le Panache, a heartfelt coming-of-age story about Colin, a 14-year-old with a stutter navigating the challenges of fitting in at a new school.

The film complemented students' studies beautifully: Year 10s are exploring friendship and school life in their Meilleurs Copains unit, while Year 11 and 12 students delve into the French education system and society in more depth. Watching a film in French offered students the chance to sharpen their listening skills, hear authentic language and accents, and reflect critically on themes they will be discussing and writing about in class.

After the screening, students ordered lunch in French at both French and Belgian eateries, putting their language skills to the test in real-world settings. They then worked thoughtfully on post-viewing activities, showing great focus and insight.

We are so proud of how our students represented Koonung—respectful, independent, and engaged from start to finish. Our students immersed themselves fully in the experience, demonstrating maturity, respect, and a genuine appreciation for the day. Their courtesy, maturity, and enthusiasm stood out—especially when they lined up neatly at crossings, allowing others to pass.

It was an absolute pleasure to accompany them on this excursion. Well done to all!
