Principal's Message
Mr Forrest
Term 2 has certainly started with a big 'BANG!' It all started with our own ANZAC Day Service and renaming of the KLC stadium to Steel Stadium. This was a warm up for our school leaders in readiness for the Wedderburn ANZAC Day Service. We were very proud of our students who did an outstanding job participating in the service. I must also add a big thank you to Ella Weber & Lillian Stephenson for acting as M.C.'s for the entirety of the morning. It was great to visit Rheola, Korong Vale and Wedderburn ANZAC Day services. All three communities should be very proud of their efforts. We also had students representing Wedderburn College at Inglewood and Tarnagulla.
To officially start the countdown to our 160th year the School Council has initiated a number of recognition ceremonies to take place. The KLC has changed its name to 'Steel Stadium' named in honour of RA Bob Steel for his long dedication and devotion to the Wedderburn Community. It was a total surprise for Bob as his wife Sandra did an amazing job to keep it a secret and gather as many of Bob's friends and family as possible to the event. School Council President, Carolyn Stephenson presented a special plaque to Bob to mark the occasion.
It was inscribed with:
STEEL STADIUM
Officially Opened on 22 April 2025
This stadium is dedicated to Bob Steel, in recognition of his outstanding service, steadfast leadership, and lifelong commitment to the betterment of the Wedderburn community.
For decades of tireless service, for leading with heart, for giving more than was ever asked - we thank you. With sincere congratulations and enduring gratitude, we commemorate this moment and honour your legacy.
– With deepest appreciation Wedderburn P-12 College
Learning Conversations
Thanks to everyone who attended Learning Conversations on Wednesday 23 April. A great way to discuss in person every student's progress reports from Term 1 and set goals for learning in Term 2.
It is a month full of camping opportunities with Year 9's camping at Granites this week, Year 3/4 students off to Queenscliff and then Year 5/6 off to Swan Hill in a fortnight. It was great to visit the Year 9's on Monday after school and see them working together to create a great campsite.
Thank you to everyone for their support of the 2025 School Fete. It worked well at the front and side of the school. Where will it be set up in 2026! Our fete is only possible with the support of our wonderful school community and the visiting small schools.
Thanks for all your wonderful donations, all of which were greatly appreciated.
A special thanks to all the small businesses, parents, community groups and service organisations for coming along to participate. There were over twenty different stall holders this year! A huge thanks to all staff members and students for providing the entertainment once again.
As you may all be aware work has commenced on the Wedderburn Early Learning Centre. The site has been fenced off and the important earth works have begun. Please do not enter this work site at any time. Contact the school office if you have any questions or concerns.
Unfortunately the Steel Stadium handover has been delayed by a few weeks due to delays with the new basketball rings. We will hopefully be in very shortly. The painters are currently working on the back block with all joinery, flooring and fitting off of electricity nearing completion . With a bit of luck we may be in before the end of term ready for an offical opening during the schools 160th birthday celebrations.
