Grade 5/6

Reading – Consumer Choices and Impact

In reading, students explored how consumer decisions can impact not just the individual, but also families, communities, and the environment. Through shared texts and class discussions, we looked at how shopping and buying choices, from the products we purchase to the brands we support, can have a ripple effect. Students are learning to think critically about the influence of marketing and the ethical considerations behind everyday decisions.

Writing – Persuading with Purpose

In writing, students began drafting a persuasive piece on the impact of influencers online. Building on our earlier learning about what influencers are and how they use persuasive techniques, students are now forming their own opinions and supporting their arguments with evidence. It’s been fantastic to see them confidently express their views on a topic that’s highly relevant to their world.

Mathematics – Zoo Design Project Wrap-Up

This week, students completed their Zoo Design Projects, applying a wide range of mathematical concepts including perimeter, area, volume, angles, and scaling. It was wonderful to see students take ownership of their learning and combine creativity with precise calculations. The final designs reflected not only strong maths knowledge but also thoughtful decision-making around animal needs, enclosure design, and efficient space use.

District Cross Country

A big congratulations to all students who represented our school at the District Cross Country this week! Whether running for personal bests or cheering on their peers, our students showed great determination, resilience, and school spirit throughout the event.

We’re looking forward to building on this momentum as we head into the second half of the term!
