and Here's an update of what our hard-working 2s and 3s (and teachers/aides of course!) have been up to this sunny week:
- Our reading sessions have been about all things 'informational!' Students have learned to identify features of nonfiction texts and also continued to practise their fluency through 'Fluency Pairs' reading
- Our nonfiction text knowledge has spilled over to our writing sessions, where students have really enjoyed finishing off their information reports about a chosen topic and then move to selecting another area of interest to create a nonfiction 'mini book'. Stay tuned for some beautiful publications
- We continued to build on our positive mindset in Maths, with students voicing a 'mantra' before each lesson. This week, we've been remembering - mistakes are valuable! Otherwise, fraction practise (including 'Flag Fractions' has kept us busy this week (along with a couple of assessments!)
- Our Science learning with Lewis was extra fun this week, where students thought about all the different 'powers' our sun gives us
- Wellbeing continued with the empathy focus
- The fun continued in P.E, French, Music & Art
- Lastly, thanks to Amy (and Mrs Brown!) for organising an awesome Cross Country! We congratulate all our students who came along and gave it a crack!
Other things to note....
- Remember to send in reading journals on Fridays
- Both classes have been doing some informal 'Show and Share' sessions on a Monday or Wednesday after lunch. If you want to send Lewis or Miss Butler photos etc. please email them to: lewis.mulvey@education.vic.gov.au or megan.butler@education.vic.gov.au
- Miss Butler will be on two weeks leave from the 12th of May while she looks after her youngster. The lovely Sherree will be in 3B!
- Wednesday, 14th of May is our Open Day. Spread the word for any families wanting to come in and check out the school. There will also be a special awards assembly at 2:30pm
- 3B will be presenting some of their awesome work on Monday, 19th of May during assembly (3:00pm). 2/3M will be sharing their incredible learnings the week after. Come along for a sticky beak!
- Keep an eye out on Xuno during the next couple of weeks to give permission to walk down to the local indigenous exhibition at the Market Building - no cost, just a little visit!
Thanks for your ongoing support,
~ Megan, Lewis, Taylar and Jan
