The big event for the week was students participating at Wagin Woolorama. Mr Adams left early Saturday morning with the shearing team to compete in the novice shearing competition. They represented themselves and the school well with Rory Miller placing 4th in the final.
Tyler Geller placed 9th in the heats and Ethan Cook competed in his first shearing competition.
Mr Watt left a little later on Saturday morning with the rest of the team who competed in the cattle, merino, meat sheep and wool judging competitions.
Oscar Tozer was 2nd in junior fleece, Andi Osborne 2nd in junior meat sheep, Ben Dusenberg and Isabella Cuthbertson both made the final of the cattle judging.
Eva Kowald, Georgie Ward, Andi Osborne and Lydia Cargill placed 3rd in the Merino team event .
Past students Kendall Heilams and Zoey Morris also competed with excellent results. Thanks to staff and students for participating. It was a great day all round.
Cattle Club
Cattle Club kicked off with 18 students signing up and participating. Cattle Club is overseen by Ms Kylie Quilty at the dairy every Wednesday evening after school. Cattle are being prepared for the Youth Cattle Camp, the Holstein Dairy Fair in Brunswick and the Brunswick Show where we hope to add a dairy cow in milk this year.
Around the Farm
Our first beef calves have hit the ground running. A few days early which is normal, particularly for maiden heifers.
Pumpkins, watermelons and corn, as well as pasteurised milk from the dairy has also hit the kitchen shelves this week. Thanks to Farm West for sorting the power issues at the Dairy and Bob McGee and students for processing and bottling the milk.
