Well done to all the students who competed in the various events at last weekend’s Wagin Woolorama. Congratulations to those who achieved place positions;  

• Andi Osborne placing 2nd in the Meat Sheep Judging.

• Oscar Tozer for placing 2nd in the Fleece Judging.

• Rory Miller for placing 4th in the Novice Shearing.

• Merino team event- 3rd place- Eva Kowald, Georgie Ward, Andi Osborne, Lydia Cargill.

Congratulations to the entire group who competed, because they all contributed to Harvey winning the Young Judges 2025 competition which takes in the number of competitors across the sheep and wool judging events .  This means we retain the 'Ram' trophy for another year.

Thanks to the staff who attended the event and conducted the training and organisation in the lead up.

Harvey Agricultural Show

I have been contacted by the organisers of the Harvey Show to see if we have any students who are willing to volunteer in the set up of the exhibition hall for a couple of hours on Wednesday 23rd April or Thursday 24th April from 9am. 

Given that the show is during the holidays, it might suit those students living locally. Please let me know if there is any interest.

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for good learning progress with research indicating that 90% attendance is the minimum acceptable standard for schools. Our College Handbook outlines our response to unapproved absences which impact on scheduled assessment task and Good Standing. With the support of our families, we aim to maintain high attendance rates. We understand and approve absences for medical and critical appointments but we will not approve absences related to family holidays, birthdays, shopping and non-critical activities that could be carried out over weekends or holidays. 

The following table shows our attendance statistics over several years compared to like schools and the whole state. 

So far this year we are operating at an overall attendance rate of 94.5% which is terrific. I ask that families support us in minimising un-necessary absences.
