Tuesday 4th March, was Shrove Tuesday.  Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Tuesday or Pancake Day) is the day which marks the end of the pre-Lenten season.   On Wednesday, March 5, we celebrated Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent with a whole school Mass in St Laurence’s Church. This celebration was a spiritual and fitting start to the Season of Lent for everyone who participated. Students and teachers from Mary Mackillop Catholic Regional College joined us in celebrating our mass. Thank you Nicole Dudman, Gretchen and Maeve.

Also on Tuesday March 4, our Social Justice leaders represented St Laurence’s School at the official Launch of Caritas’ annual fundraiser for the Diocese of Sale. This year the event was hosted by Mary Mackillop Regional Catholic College. Catholic Bishop of Sale, Most Reverend Greg Bennet joined students, teachers, and guests from school and parish communities to mark the beginning of Lent and to officially launch the 2025 Project Compassion appeal in the Diocese of Sale.  St Laurence’s extend their appreciation to Mary Mackillop staff and students for their hospitality on the day and for organising such a polished event. The launch consisted of four major parts - Welcome to the college, education about Project Compassion, a liturgy led by Bishop Greg, and fluffy pancakes (marking Pancake Tuesday) in Mary Mackillop's very own pop up cafe served by a most enthusiastic group of Youth Ministry students.

On Thursday 13th, Makenzi, Rachael, Molly, Jenna & Hunter will head off to Sale for the Regional Swimming Carnival.  Good luck to you all.

In the evening of Thursday, 13th March at St Josephs's church in Korumburra, 10 children from St Laurences, 9 from St Joseph's and 1 from Foster will make the Sacrament of First Reconciliaton.  Congratulations to:

George, Harlow, Lukah, Saylor, Jake, Charlotte, Elijah, Finn, Knox & Oscar from St Laurence's.  Dallas, Arianna, Kye, Ava, Mason, Cleo, Wesley, Zara, Lily from St Josephs's and Dominic from Foster.

Please keep them in your prayers.

Each year the school requires a new Asthma Management/Allergy Management Plan to be uploaded onto PAM and a copy given to the school for our files.  Please ensure that the school has the very latest plan for your child/ren.  This is a good time for everyone to review the medical information that is on PAM for your child/ren and ensure that all details are up to date and accurate.

Have a wonderful and safe long weekend everyone.
