Celebrations of Learning and Community

YEAR 8 CAMP
Our wonderful Year 8 cohort headed down to Camp Manyung in Mt. Eliza for a fantastic three day camp. Once students got settled into cabins and had lunch, we kicked off rotations on the first day! Students were very excited, especially when it came to the giant swing, snorkelling and sea kayaking. The weather was magnificent and gave us opportunities to make the most of the activities.
Some of the favourites were the kitchen garden, making homemade pizza, leadership/team challenges and also the low ropes or treetops walk. Many students were encouraging one another and participating in all group rotations. It was awesome to see some get out of their comfort zone and give experiences a go. We culminated the second night with a movie or watching the Thursday night footy. The smiles and stories will last a lifetime. A big thanks to all the teachers and leaders who supported students.
YEAR 9 CITY EXPERIENCE
Across the last two weeks, our Year 9 students took part in their second City Experience of the term. This is a unique opportunity to explore the heart of Melbourne and develop important life skills beyond the classroom.
The Public Transport Challenge was the focus of this trip, where students worked in small groups to navigate their way through the city, visiting significant landmarks using Melbourne’s train and tram network. This hands-on challenge encouraged them to think on their feet, adapt to new situations, and develop their resilience, communication skills, and independence.
Students travelled to iconic sites such as Federation Square, The Shrine, SEA Life, The Old Melbourne Gaol and the State Library, managing time effectively and working collaboratively, students embraced the challenges of city travel with enthusiasm and determination.
The City Experience provided not only a chance to explore Melbourne but also an opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zones, problem-solve in real time, and build confidence in an urban setting. It was an invaluable learning experience that will set them up for future trips throughout the year.
