PFA News

The first PFA meeting was a huge success! The staffroom was buzzing with over 20 parents! We chatted, planned, gave ideas and ate yummy treats! Thank you to those who came. Everyone is welcome to come along to PFA meetings. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 19th March 7.30pm Senior campus staffroom.

One of the ways our PFA works so successfully is that every year level gets to help out for one key event a year.  Of course, we encourage you and your children to assist as many times as you can throughout the year, but there is a need for you to be involved at your allocated year level event. Your class reps will shortly be looking for some event leads, but everyone is encouraged to get on board and help. Please see how you can be involved.

This year your year level events are:

Prep: Parent social night

Year 1: Election BBQ- TBC (or something else if GPS don't host)

Year 2: Disco (2 year levels)

Year 3: Walk-a-thon

Year 4: Disco (2 year levels)

Year 5: Father’s Day Event

Year 6: Mother’s Day event

We don't have all the dates for these events yet, but this is a little heads-up for you to get excited!!!

Please, EVERYONE dig deep for the 2025 FAIR in order for it to be a success! See where you can get involved. Please put this date in your diary: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 30TH 2025

PARENT WINE AND CHEESE NIGHT - What an incredible first official event! The weather was amazing, the courtyard was the perfect setting, and the bar and nibbles were simply perfect! Huge thank you to those behind the scenes who helped with set up, decorations, food, music, pack up and all the little things that just happen!! THANK YOU to Lisa Cohen, Tanya Shulman, Fran Labraca, Mikki Blum, Eszter Mitchell, Reka Szentkiralyi and Hugh Maguire. Special mention to Hugh who was the first one there setting up, schlepping tables and sorting the tunes! Thanks Hugh!

Special thanks for the amazing treats supplied by the very talented Gardenvale parent Estzi from Resterika Catering. I had one too many brownies! Contact Estzi on her business page on facebook @Resterika!

And of course, a GPS bar would not be the same without our talented bar team Jen and Marc Robinson! You guys are amazing! Huge thanks to Guy and Claudia Greenstone (current long time GPS Parents) from Stomping Ground Brewery, and Scott and Renea Mckinnon (ex GPS parents) from Wolf of the Willows. Your generosity makes these events amazing for our school. Be sure to head down to their breweries for some great beer and food.

FAMILY PHOTO SESSION A HIT! - Landcox Park was full of smiles on Saturday morning, with heaps of families having their photos taken. A great way to remember this time with your families and with the added benefit of being a small fundraiser for our school! Thank-you to those families who were able to support this initiative.

2025 WALK-A-THON Friday 28th March 9.15-10.15am. This is an annual event that students participate in at Landcox park and absolutely love. Parents are invited to come along and cheer on the students as they do their laps. Students are encouraged to ask their friends, families, neighbours and anyone else to sponsor them for their walking. Sponsorship forms will be sent home with your children shortly. Payments after the event can be made via Compass. For a 4-week period after the walk-a-thon, random prizes will be given out at assembly. To be in the running, your sponsorship money must have been returned to the school.  Highest fundraisers will celebrate a special morning tea treat at Zest with Mrs Hall and Ms Sfetsas.

Note: The PFA rely heavily on donations for these prizes (like movie tickets, yo-chi vouchers, etc) so if you are in a position to donate something, please contact Romy Same (Year 3: romysame@hotmail.com). Year 3 parents be on the look out for correspondence from your reps on running the event.
