Principal's Report

Welcome to our new Newsletter

Dear community,

Welcome back for Term 2. We have a new newsletter format that is made to be viewed on various platforms - email, phones, tablets etc. Each class is allocated a page which has the merit awards plus photos from the past few weeks. This newsletter is a little longer than usual as we have included all of the Term 1 events. From here on in, a newsletter will be published twice a term. Our first newsletter for Term 2 will be published in Week 5.

Last term, we celebrated a few significant events in our community. We invited families in for Harmony Week, Eid, and Easter Hat parade. It was great to have so many families join us. See the following pages in this newsletter with photos from these events. These events are a great way for the school to showcase the wonderful work happening in classrooms and enable parents to feel more connected to student learning. We are aiming to increase opportunities for parents to visit classrooms.

We have finally had our cubby houses and outdoor stage installed. Those here last year, you will know that we have waited a while for the project to be approved and then installed. These provide students with extra play spaces. We have also bought toys and equipment to go into the cubbies for students to use. We have spoken to the children about keeping these together so they can be enjoyed by all. If you're kids are here before or after school, please make sure that the toys stay with the cubby houses.

This term we established our new playgroup. Playgroup runs from 9.30-11.20am each Wednesday morning in Purple room (classroom closest to the back gate). Our playgroup coordinators are Ms Salwa Bazzi (from our preschool) and Mrs Ellie Sangster (parent helper). They provide a range of indoor and outdoor play experiences for children up to the age of 5. Playgroup is free and is open to our local community. If you're interested in joining, turn up on a Wednesday, bring snacks and a water bottle. Enrolment takes about 5 minutes. A parent/guardian must be present for the entire time  as you are responsible for your child's safety.

Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter. As this is a new format, we'll be asking for feedback in the coming weeks.

Kind regards,

Bryce Hageman
