Year 10 Connected, Resilient, Engaged (BlueLight CoRE Tier 2 Group Program)

A select group of Year 10 students have been proactively participating in the BlueLight CoRE program. Our first few sessions have been a great success! The students engaged enthusiastically, participating throughout the program and making the most of the experience.

Our most recent session of CoRE was a powerful and insightful gathering! We were honoured to have representatives from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), a dedicated paramedic, and the City of Casey Youth Services join us for an engaging discussion.

The session focused on community safety, emergency response, and the vital support available for young people. Attendees gained valuable knowledge on how these professionals contribute to our well-being and how we can work together to foster a safer, more connected community.

Later this term our students will attend an excursion to the United African Farm. The students will learn about the farm and its purpose, the food, and the planting. They will have hands on experience of helping in the garden and there will also be a music element; African drums, singing and music. I’m sure it will be an amazing day!

Victoria Police Crime Prevention Program Earlier in the term, our Year 9 and Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Victoria Police on Crime Prevention. The students were attentive, actively engaged, and contributed thoughtfully to discussions. The topics covered in the program included:

  • Role of police
  • Youth crime
  • Theft
  • Damage
  • Assault
  • Online crime and cyber safety
  • Consequences of actions

We are extremely grateful to Victoria Police for coming onsite to present to our students and the feedback from the staff and students involved has been positive.
