PRINCIPAL REPORT

Term 3 is always a busy term ‘behind the scenes’ as we prepare for 2026. We follow a complex process of gathering student and staff data to develop a viable schedule and timetable for the college. Communication to students regarding subjects for 2026 will be communicated early term 4.
We have also had many active beavers working in our gardens, preparing for our 50th birthday celebrations. I am looking forward to being a part of past and present staff and students, sharing memories of education and fun over the last 50 years. Staff have put in a lot of effort to develop fun activities for the MOVE-A-THON on 10th October. Would LOVE if our school community also works hard to get students sponsored so we can raise as much money as we can towards out ‘outdoor shelter fund’.
I have been super proud of our year 9 students this term as they completed their Community Projects. I continue to be blown away by their creativity, empathy and passion for making our community a better place. I look forward to being a part of their presentations next term.
I had a small part to play this week in exit interviews for our VCE Vocational Major students. It is rewarding to listen to students be proud of their accomplishments, many thanking their teachers for inspiring them to be the best they can be, in order to feel confident and competent heading into the workforce. We wish all of them well and can’t wait to hear where they end up in 2026.
To our scored pathway VCE students…it is crunch time! The next month is a time to dig deep and focus on all of the hard work that you have contributed over the last 2 years of VCE. Be your best to do your best - allowing as many doors being open as possible.
ENTRY and EXIT routines at MESC!
This year we have been focusing on some of the strategies aligned to the new Department of Education Positive Classroom Management Strategies. Two of these have been expectations around entering and exiting a classroom. It may sound silly to parents, as it is something consolidated in primary school. Over time we have found this practice to be less consistent, leading to the beginning classes staking some time for students to be READY TO LEARN. With some basic behaviours like lining up, and completing exit tickets to teachers, students are psychologically signalled ‘let’s go, ready and calm and… this class has finished, off you go!” Positive Classroom Management Strategies | schools.vic.gov.au
I hope that students, staff and families have a fabulous spring break and return ready to tie up the 2025 academic school year and bounce for 2 weeks into 2026!!
