Junior Year Levels STEM update

Over the past few weeks, the Preps have been making their own grass heads! Students planted grass seeds in their cups with soil last term and placed them in the Prep Garden.

The Preps then noted down their experience and observations in their Grass Head Diaries. Over the holidays, the grass heads received rainwater and sunlight, resulting in many impressive heads of grassy hair for the Preps to cut! Through this practical and hands-on activity, the Preps have learned about what plants need to live and grow and observed changes over time as part of their early science learning.

The Year Ones and Twos recently completed a unit of learning using Minecraft Education to design and build their own dream house. Students planned and designed both practical and extraordinary features and described them in terms of size, colour, shape, and materials.

Students also developed digital skills in Minecraft Education, learning how to navigate the world, use coordinates, move and control their avatar, and build structures by selecting and placing appropriate blocks from the inventory. They also practiced saving and opening their work files, helping them work more independently across sessions.
