Do you ever wonder whether you belong?
According to Dr Emily Musgrove, our resident psychologist, belonging is an evolutionary need, literally built into our DNA. And in our current loneliness epidemic, the feeling of belonging uncertainty can impact our sense of safety, identity and even physical health.
This week, Dr Em goes into the intolerable state of uncertainty, and the self-fulfilling prophecy we may induce when trying to protect ourselves. Unfortunately, for all of us introverts, creating connection involves risk.
On the flip side, Dr Em explains the benefits to seeking perspective and crafting situations to help others feel like they belong.
AND with a guest star appearance from Producer Bridge, we unpack what it looks and feels like to get it wrong, and how you can work to get it right.
Dr Em, this is our favourite time of the month.
For the next two weeks, our PBIS blitz will support the Bullying No Way: National week of action.
This year St Patrick’s will be participating in the Bullying No Way: National week of action which is next week.
Bullying No Way Week is a commitment being made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention.
It gives us an opportunity to connect with students, staff and school communities to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for this year's campaign is Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.
It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.
Students can be bold, kind and speak up to support others being bullied. While trusted adults are there to support children and young people learn how to be kind to each other and report bullying.
This Bullying No Way Week, we’re asking you to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone and be proud to speak up against bullying.
This week, each class will participate in the Kid’s Helpline largest anti-bullying lesson. This is an online lesson that will be watched by many students in Australia. You will participate in activities including strategies about how to respond to bullying.
