Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,
Today we celebrated the Feast Day of Mary MacKillop. We thank Donnella DeVisser and the Year 3 children for leading our Mary MacKillop Liturgy so beautifully and reverently this morning at assembly.
We take time to remember and celebrate the life and legacy of Saint Mary MacKillop, whose Feast Day we mark today on August 8.
Mary MacKillop holds a special place in the hearts of Australians as our first saint and a woman of deep faith, courage, and compassion. She believed in the power of education for all children, especially those who were poor and worked tirelessly to make that belief a reality. Mary founded the Sisters of Saint Joseph, who opened many schools across Australia, including some that still support our communities today.
At our school, we honour Mary MacKillop by living out her values of kindness, service, and faith. Throughout this week, our students have reflected on her words, "Never see a need without doing something about it," and explored how we can each make a difference in our own small ways.
We invite families to continue these conversations at home and to join us in prayer and gratitude for Saint Mary MacKillop, a true role model of love in action.
Prayer for Saint Mary MacKillop Feast Day
Loving Father,
As we remember St Mary of the Cross MacKillop on her feast day,
May she always be a bright light that brings us closer to You.
Help us to be inspired by the words and actions of St Mary MacKillop,
And to commit to our faith, during every season of our lives.
We give thanks and praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

High Expectations at St Joseph's
At St Joseph’s, we take great pride in setting high expectations for all students.
One simple way we can do this, is by wearing our school uniform with respect and pride. Wearing our uniform neatly and correctly is one way we show that we belong to a community that values excellence and care.
Guided by our school values of Kindliness and Strength, we encourage every student to treat others with compassion, include those who feel left out, and show courage in doing what is right.
At St Joseph’s, respect is shown not only in our words, but in our actions, in the way we speak to one another, how we listen, and how we care for each other, and how we care for our classrooms, our shared spaces and our belongings.
By having high expectations of each other, together, we create a school environment where everyone feels respected, valued and safe.
It is always a pleasure to see the beautiful children of St Joseph's wearing their school uniform beautifully, using their best manners, moving safely around our school, engaging in their learning to the best of their ability, and treating each other with kindness and respect. These are the values we continue to uphold at St Joseph's.
