Grandparents' Day

Last Friday, we celebrated Grandparents’ Day. We began with a special Mass hosted by 5/6N to give thanks for the love and support of our grandparents. After Mass, the grandparents enjoyed a lovely morning tea together. The celebration continued in our classrooms, where students, grandparents and other family members were involved in some engaging activities. We enjoyed spending quality time with these very special people in our lives!

School Concert

In preparation for the upcoming School Concert, we have been rehearsing our dance routines every Tuesday. The Year 5 students in our class are dancing to Men In Black, while the Year 6 students in 5/6O are performing to the song Faith. With each session, the routines are becoming sharper and more polished. Everyone is looking forward to showcasing their hard work on the big night!

World Habitats

In the first half of Term 3, we are focusing on the Science Core Knowledge unit World Habitats. We have begun by learning about the different climate zones and where they are located around the world. This week, we have been exploring aquatic habitats and describing their key features. We can’t wait for our excursion to the Melbourne Zoo next Friday where we will get to see some of these habitats up close!

Maths

Last week, we finished our unit on probability where we conducted chance experiments using counters, dice and online spinners. One key focus was understanding how increasing the number of trials can affect the outcomes and make results more predictable. This week, we have started a geometry unit on transformations. We are learning about the three main types of transformations: rotation, translation and reflection, and how each one changes the position or orientation of a shape without altering its size.
