Deputy Principal's Message

Deputy Principal's Message: Mr. Kayes
Dear Parents, Carers, and Kellyville High School Community,
It has been a busy and rewarding start to Term 3 at Kellyville High School, and I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the many highlights from the first five weeks.
We warmly welcome back our Principal, Mr. Maric, following his period of leave. We are delighted to have his leadership and vision return to the school. On a personal note, I would like to sincerely thank the entire school community—students, staff, and families—for your support during my time as Relieving Principal. It has been a privilege to serve in this role, and I am proud of the many achievements we have celebrated together so far this term.
Our Year 12 students began the term with focus and determination as they completed their Trial HSC examinations. We are very proud of the way our senior students have approached this significant milestone, and we commend them for their resilience and commitment. The Music and Drama HSC Showcase evening was another highlight, giving families and peers the opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary creativity and talent of our Year 12 performers. In addition, our dance students recently completed their HSC practical examinations, demonstrating dedication and artistry.
Public Education Week provided us with the chance to celebrate the outstanding opportunities and achievements of public education. Each week students at KHS are provided opportunities to engage in a range of learning experiences and activities that enable them to develop and work on their potential. We hope you enjoyed the updates through our school social media platforms highlighting learning and activities which occurred throughout the week.
Leadership and service continue to thrive at Kellyville. We were proud to see four of our students selected as Generational Leaders, recognising their capacity to inspire others and shape the future. Meanwhile, 51 students were nominated to serve as mentors for Year 9, reflecting the strength of our culture of support and care. Our Senior Leadership Team nominations and voting have also attracted a record number of candidates, highlighting the deep interest our students have in leading and giving back to the school community.
For Year 11, the Urban Challenge offered an invaluable opportunity to develop teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills beyond the classroom. Meanwhile, our IEF students attended a Careers Expo, gaining important insights into pathways for their futures.
Celebrations of learning and achievement have been a consistent theme this term. The Principal’s Morning Tea for Excellence recognised students who have displayed
outstanding effort, growth, and commitment across a range of areas. Our school also came together for Book Week, where our ever-enthusiastic librarian inspired everyone with her creative costumes—sparking joy and excitement across the school. We also congratulate our debating team on winning Round 1, a fantastic result that reflects their preparation, teamwork, and confidence. Another highlight was our success in the Hills District Schools Battle of the Bands, where our talented students performed brilliantly and secured 3rd place.
As we reflect on these first five weeks, I am proud of the breadth of opportunities and the many successes across our school. Thank you once again for your continued support of Kellyville High School and for the encouragement you provide your children. With Mr. Maric returning, I am confident the second half of the term will bring even more achievements to celebrate.
Warm regards,
Mr. G. Kayes
Deputy Principal's Message: Mr. Knott
Welcome back to our Year 12 students following the completion of their HSC Trial Examinations. This is an important time for you to consolidate your learning, take on feedback from your teachers, and focus on “value adding” in every lesson as you work towards your personal best in the final weeks before the HSC. We expect you to continue attending school every day, arriving on time to all classes, and following our school rules and policies, as these are the foundations for success both academically and personally.
Year 11 students are now approaching their Yearly Examinations, and I wish you every success as you prepare for this important assessment period. The end of the year will arrive quickly, and before you know it, you will be stepping into your own HSC Trial Examinations and the HSC itself. Make the most of every learning opportunity now – the habits you develop today will carry you through the challenges ahead.
Mr. D. Knott
Rel. Deputy Principal
