Science

Students in Science have been undertaking both practical and theoretical studies using
new technologies, solving practical problems, and making informed decisions — both
individually and collectively.
Year 7 students have been developing their skills in experimental work and have been
exposed to a wide variety of practical activities. They have been discovering the
concepts of friction, chemical and physical properties of metals to design a bike.
Meanwhile, Year 8 students have been addressing their mandatory research project and
students in Year 9 have been heavily involved in experimental work, examining the
electricity, motion and nuclear reactions
In Year 10, students are looking at the world of Chemistry and chemical reactions, learning to write, balance and make sense of chemical equations. This has been coupled with exciting practical work.
In addition 10S1 and 8K have been working on a project in partnership with the CSIRO, State Government and Hills Council. As part of the Generation STEM, the STEM Community Partnerships Program (STEM CPP) students are undertaking a curriculum-aligned, inquiry-based project to address challenges faced by our local community.
Students will be presenting their work to a panel in November at Castle Hill.
