Hello Wonderful Parents and Carers,

With the introduction of the social media ban being instated on December 10th, I thought that I would take this opportunity to reiterate the importance of online safety for our kids.

The Australian Government has announced new rules to help keep children safer online. From 10 December 2025, children under the age of 16 will no longer be able to create or keep accounts on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, X (Twitter) and Facebook.

Families won’t be fined or punished. Instead, the responsibility falls on the social media companies, who must prevent kids, under 16, from having accounts or risk very large penalties. This change is designed to make the online world safer for young people by reducing exposure to inappropriate content, online contact with strangers and other risks that come with social media use.

As always, our school encourages families to continue talking with children about safe and healthy online habits.

I have attached an article from the Raising Children site, which gives helpful guidance on how to manage screen time for your kids at home.
