Principal's Message

Welcome to our final newsletter for 2025
Where has the year gone? This will be our final newsletter for the year, as you will receive a bulletin next week with 2026 staffing and any final reminders to close the school year. We know there are plenty of questions around classes and teachers for 2026, this is being finalised, and the students will meet their new teachers and classmates as part of Step Up on Wednesday 17th December.
I would like to highlight and acknowledge the following:
- Thank you to our staff for your enthusiasm, compassion and commitment to another fabulous year. The MPHPS staff are exceptional. They add depth to student learning and wisdom in managing many situations all at the one time. I am extremely grateful for their dedication to their students and in supporting their parents and carers.
- Thank you and congratulations to our 2025 Student Leaders. Our Captains and JSC representatives have provided a strong student voice in our school and have shown a strong interest and push for change. I wish these leaders well as they continue their schooling.
- Thank you to our School Councillors for their enthusiasm and commitment to MPHPS throughout the year. You are a brilliant team of people. I would particularly like to acknowledge Peter Tanevski, our President over the past 6 years. Peter will attend our final meeting in February as this marks the end of his time as a parent in primary school. I will highlight Peter further in our early newsletter next year.
- Thank you to our parent and carer community. Thank you for showing up to our special events and thank you for trusting us when decisions are made to support your child. It has been incredibly powerful to work with families who are supportive of the school while also advocating for their own child.
- The 2026 student free days have now been approved. This information will be posted for you in this newsletter and the final bulletin. Please make a note of these dates now so that you can confidently plan. You will notice we have worked hard to balance the days to ensure we don’t always take a Monday or Friday as student free.
- The Colour Run was a huge success for everyone involved. Thank you to the Specialists for their enormous effort in organising this, and to each one of you for your participation and support. Funds raised go directly back into school programs.
- The Year 6 Graduation will occur on Monday 15th December. This will be a lovely student acknowledgement and celebration of their 7 years at MPHPS. We look forward to this gala event.
- Don’t forget to look out for the Year 6 legacy mosaic art installation. This is now our 9th legacy piece which certainly adds creativity and beauty in our yard. Thank you to Zoe Hurrey for leading this amazing initiative.
- The end of year assembly and Christmas performance will occur on Friday 19th December at 9.00am. All families are welcome.
- Camp Australia have been incredibly supportive of MPHPS and we thank them for their ongoing partnership and support throughout the year. Don’t forget to book in for the holiday program if you need support over January.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the SWPBS team who have been core drivers in reviewing and changing our school values this year. The team have worked tirelessly to ensure there is clarity around expectations as we move into 2026. You will all be involved and encouraged to support these changes, and we will be sure to keep you updated. 2026 will be a terrific year to highlight Respect, Collaboration and Perseverance.
Have a great week Chris
