Principal's final letter for 2025
Dr Lisa Vinnicombe
This final newsletter for 2025 is one of celebration, successes, achievements and acknowledgement of the amazing things we have collectively accomplished at John Fawkner over the course of the year.
We have been working hard on transforming this school for the past 4 years and we are seeing results and significant improvements in all aspects of our college. The photos celebrate awards and achievements but throughout the year, we have been constantly reminded of what a vibrant, fun, and high achieving school we have become. Some examples include:
👍multiple excursions throughout the year for all year levels
👍high attendance and performance in exams for years 9 - 12
👍increased attendance leading to higher levels of engagement with learning
👍high turnout to parent/teacher conferences
👍increased participation in excursions and sports
👍a growth in NAPLAN scores for years 7and 9
👍higher ATAR scores for VCE
👍noticeable increase in classroom engagement and learning outcomes.
... And much more.
Other reflections:
2025 March saw our building program come to a sudden halt which was a major disappointment for us this year. We hope to see builders back on site early next year with a projected finish for the Science/STEM block sometime later in semester one.
Melbourne Victory School of Football program continued to grow and expand, with the highlight this year being the GALA day, which saw over 300 primary students participating in a festive day hosted entirely by our MV students.
Our staff continued to grow and develop their skills in curriculum planning and development, differentiating the curriculum for all students, engaging in professional learning run by the region/DET, doing self education, and overall, continuing to ensure that all day every day, we aim to deliver the best we can so that your children can be the best they can.
As I finish the fourth year as principal of JFC, I could not be prouder of our small community and I am excited about what the next four years will bring!
Have a happy, safe, relaxing summer break and we look forward to seeing you back in 2025.
To our year 12 students and any families relocating, all the best and thank you for your time with us at JFC!
