Grade 3/4 Bulletin

Celebrating Term 4 in Year 3/4
As we wrap up Term 4, we want to recognise the effort, growth, and positive attitude shown by all students in 3/4. It has been a busy term with many opportunities for learning, teamwork, and building confidence, and we are very proud of the way students have handled challenges and supported each other along the way.
“Why Worry Wally?” Incursion
Students took part in a wellbeing incursion based on the picture book Why Worry Wally? by Rick Foster. This session focused on recognising and talking about common worries — things like changes next year, friendships, the lead-up to camp, and the holiday period.
Students learned to:
- Identify what they are worried about
- Understand that worries are normal
- Use simple strategies such as breathing, talking things through, and naming their feelings
It was a helpful way for students to think about their emotions and practise ways to manage them.
Year 3/4 Camp – Sovereign Hill
Our three-day Sovereign Hill camp (17–19 November) was a major highlight. Students stepped back in time to explore what life was like on the goldfields in the 1850s. They took part in a live gold pour, candle making, panned for gold, visited the blacksmith, and learned about migration and the experiences of Chinese miners. They also enjoyed seeing shops, hotels, and demonstrations across the living museum.
We were particularly proud of how students behaved throughout camp. They supported each other in cabins, encouraged their friends, and showed respect to staff and members of the public. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the experience a memorable one for everyone.
Surf Lifesaving Victoria Incursion
Surf Lifesaving Victoria visited this term to teach students about staying safe near water. They covered topics such as patrolled beaches, staying between the flags, recognising when an adult needs to be close by, understanding rips, and practising sun safety. With the holidays coming up, this was a timely reminder of how to make safe choices around water.
ERP Presentations – Australian Biomes
At the beginning of the term, students presented their Education Research Projects on different Australian biomes. They researched areas such as deserts, grasslands, forests, and coastal environments, learning about climate, animals, plants, and geographical features.
Students built their own biome models using recycled materials and shared their learning at assembly. Their presentations showed strong effort, clear understanding, and pride in their work.
